Autorenporträt
Toki is a longtime resident of Yonkers, New York, but she was born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. She received her elementary education in the Yonkers school system. Then she went on to achieve her formal education through the Metropolitan College of New York, where she completed her master's in business administration. However, because of her long work history in the social service industry and watching the community she lives in struggle, it wasn't enough. She then, decided to return to school to pursue a master's in social work at Fordham University. Toki remembered growing up in poverty and how it can kill a person's spirit, their drive, and their dreams, but people must dare to want more. Most realities are devastated by their situations, easily falling victim to what they find, where the pursuit of happiness seems vague. Discovering her ability to write stories, it became a way out of her mind and an entryway into another world. She loves writing poetry, music, attaching words, and expressing them into what she feels. The arts in any fashion is her passion; finding ways to be a part of the entertainment industry, she has participated in two indie films and several plays. She is a playwright, lyricist, and of course, a poet. As an artist, it's our dream to be a part of, to sit next to, and to just be in a world we love. Today, Toki is strong and compassionate about positive communication and reducing violence and abuse against one another in our communities.
