George MacDonald (10 December 1824-18 September 1905) was a Scottish writer, poet and Christian minister. The son of a farming family in Aberdeenshire, he completed a professor at King's College London. Starting his career as a Congregationalist minister, he resigned after two years when his unconventional views contended irreconcilably with those of his followers. Auden, Mark Twain, etc.
