A week ago, Amber was stressing about her thesis and mourning a recent break-up. Now, she's sleeping in the mud, running for her life, and struggling with conflicting grief over the death of a woman who hated her. She has reached rock bottom. And yet things only manage to get worse. Farida, hit hard with grief and guilt, has grown increasingly distant in the days since her grandmother's death, and an unexpected confrontation reveals she is using more than one magic stone and pushes her to her breaking point. Farida abandons Amber to pursue an unclear but undoubtedly dangerous mission. Amber must rely on an old friend and a recent enemy to find and stop Farida before the corrupting and deadly power of using multiple magic stones kills her.
