Myrtle Reed (1874-1911) was an American author, poet, journalist, and philanthropist, heralded for her contributions to early 20th-century American literature. Born in Illinois, Reed was the daughter of the preacher Hiram von Reed and author Elizabeth Armstrong Reed. She achieved recognition in the literary world for her blend of romanticism and sentimentality, which resonated with the readers of her time. Reed's prose often explored themes of love, loss, and yearning, intricately woven with elements of fantasy and realism which became her hallmark. She penned several bestsellers during her lifetime, among them 'Threads of Grey and Gold' (1913), a tapestry of contemplative narratives and thoughtful character studies that exemplify her lyrical style and introspective storytelling. Reed's writing is characterized by its eloquent diction and profound empathy, striking chords with audiences through its depth and sincerity.
