This story sets here on the lands, where I live and walk on the very grounds where the Hatfield and McCoy feud happened. Three Forbidden Sons is a story set back in the early 1900s, during the birth of the union of the coal mines and surrounding the battle of the Matewan massacre. Not only were there many disagreements with the Detectives and the City officials, but the families here in the outskirts of the small town of Matewan, West Virginia were also having troubles amongst themselves. My story tells of a daughter born into one of these families that had their heart set on a son. Back in these days, a son was more of a blessing, simply because at the age of nine years old, he could go and work in the mine's beside his father and help turn a better profit for the family. Gracie was deemed 'useless' by a father that despised her from birth. She had never felt his hand, nor heard him call out her name. In her teenage years, she had three forbidden sons out of wedlock, and her father unleashed his true hatred upon her. Her horrific life that she had to live around him would finally come to a peak, and he would finally see what he had created. He, for once in his life recognized her as his daughter, which was an exact image of himself! "The apple didn't fall too far from the tree, did it Father?" she said.
Autorenporträt
This story is set back in the early 1900s and fell parallel to my own life as a child. Of course I was not born back then, but, living without running water, toilet facilities, and remembering many, many birthday cakes made from a flour, sugar, and water, brings back memories for me. My book is written in Fiction, but there are true events in the mix. I have a wonderful husband of thirty-five years, Three biological children, two adopted sons, and six awesome grandchildren. And I have fostered over six hundred needy children, with pleasure. I have lived in many states in this country, but always fell back to my hometown here in Mingo county West Virginia.
