The author is a mathematician specializing in noncommutative geometry. Graduated in Moscow, taught in Calgary, he was doingresearch in Montreal and now in Toronto. Other works include books"Foliations on Surfaces" and "Flows on 2-Dimensional Manifolds"(joint with Evgeny Zhuzhoma) published by Springer-Verlag,Germany.
