Helen Cooper's plays include Mrs Gauguin (Almeida Theatre, Toneelgroep Centrum; nominated for the Susan Smith Blackburn Award); Mrs Vershinin (Riverside Studios, Tramway, Glasgow, Theatre der Welt, Hamburg and broadcast on BBC Radio 3; nominated for the Susan Smith Blackburn Award), both directed by Mike Bradwell; The House of Ruby Moo, Three Women and a Piano Tuner (Chichester Festival Theatre, Hampstead Theatre) directed by Samuel West.
Her screenplays include Miss Julie, directed by Mike Figgis, her short film, Station, which won the Cinerail de Bronze in Paris, the best British Short Film Award at the Kino Film Festival in Manchester and had two nominations for BAFTA Scotland's New Talent Award.
Her radio plays include Mothers at the Gate, A9, and Hedda Gabler, all directed by Eoin O'Callaghan; Mrs Vershinin, produced and directed by Ned Chaillet.
Work as a translator includes Miss Julie for Greenwich Theatre, directed by Tom Cairns; Hedda Gabler for Chichester Festival Theatre, directed by Lindy Davies; Don Giovanni for Scottish Opera, directed by Tom Cairns.
Helen has also worked as a dramaturge on La Boheme, (Stuttgard Opera House); Prima Donna by Rufus Wainwright, directed by Danny Kramer for the Manchester International Festival; The Ring Cycle (Reisopera in Enschede); Lohengrin (Welsh National Opera in Cardiff and Warsaw); Tristan and Isolde (Opera du Rhin in Strasbourg). She wrote the libretto for Rhiannon's Song (Opera W11) and 25 Brook Street (Handel House), as well as writing the narration for the dance piece This is the Picture for the Aletta Collins Dance Company.
