Chunyan Li is Professor and Mobil Distinguished Professor of Marine Geology in the Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences at Louisiana State University. He is Director of the Wave-Current-Surge Information System (WAVCIS), part of the Gulf Coastal Ocean Observing System (GCOOS), which collects real time meteorological and oceanographic data. Li's research focusses on coastal physical oceanography, estuarine dynamics, innovative ocean observations, atmospheric-oceanic observing systems, storm surge and severe weather induced ocean response. He has published almost a hundred peer-reviewed papers, many of which have involved ocean time series analysis and associated theories and dynamical processes in estuaries and the coastal ocean.
