Tini, a girl with tan skin and multicolored hair, is a yogini, or yoga master, who loves to garden. She's best friends with Rhogi, a sauropod with a blond Mohawk who also practices yoga. Davies describes, in rhyme, how they practice asanas (poses) and how yoga was once exclusively the province of men. (In one image, Tini hides her hair under a hat and wears a fake mustache, which may particularly delight young female readers.) But now, the author notes, everyone-including dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals-can practice yoga. Mimicking the poses performed by the dinosaurs will be a challenge even for yoga students. However, the stanzas clearly explain the poses' names and purposes as well as the concepts of breathing and managing energy. The text also recommends using yoga and other mindfulness techniques to find a sense of gratitude, even during bad times. The dinosaur illustrations are quite funny and eye-catching. Davies also packs a surprising amount of information into the simple poetry, effectively promoting the idea that yoga is indeed for everyone. Aspiring yoginis will find much to love here, as will dinosaur lovers.
