The present book was conducted with two directions of special emphasis: First to standardize protocols for micropropagation of two local cultivars of pointed gourd (Trichosanthes dioica Roxb.) viz. Calcutti and Hybrid grown in parts of Gujarat. Secondly, to explore the possibility of plant regeneration from the leaf derived callus. The molecular marker analysis carried out by RAPD using random decamers showed no polymorphic bands even up to 13 growth cycles. This indicated that thirteen (13) growth cycles can be operated in pointed gourd cultivars viz. Calcutti and Hybrid without any variation at molecular level.
