M ori art is a vibrant and dynamic part of the M ori people that has undergone huge transformations since European arrival to New Zealand. They brought with them new materials and techniques that M ori quickly adopted and developed to put a unique spin on the world of M ori art. This book describes two new innovations to M ori weaving never seen before. Firstly, the combination of the European technique of loom weaving using traditional M ori weaving materials in the creation of a collection of unique cloaks. Secondly, the use of computer-aided loom weaving to produce the traditional t niko (finger weaving) style of adornment.
