Benjamin Franklin Cooling is Professor of National Security Studies at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University, in Washington, D.C. In addition to his two previous volumes on the Civil War in Kentucky and Tennessee, he is the author of Jubal Early's Raid on Washington, Counter-Thrust: From the Peninsula to the Antietam, and Monocacy: The Battle that Saved Washington.
