Autorenporträt
Jacques Huinck, born in 1935 in Maastricht, the Netherlands, was an independent photographer and filmmaker. He won the Prix Nièpce in Paris for his photos, received a travel grant to Hollywood for his first film and made 36 short features for a psychological faculty. He taught at the Maastricht Art Academy for 26 years. After his retirement he worked 18 years as a guide in the caves and the antique fortress St. Pieter in Maastricht.In the Second World War he experienced the liberation (by Americans) in the basement of a house that stood between two trenches.After the war, he was trained as a photographer and filmmaker in bombed Germany and became acquainted with the mentality of the former enemy. He couldn't stop remain interested in the cause of this global disaster and wrote his conclusions (with humor) in this book.
