In high school he played for a band as well as collaborating with many older musicians. In his early career he has played with artists such as Keith Sweat, PM Dawn, Johnny Kemp, Queen Latifah, Bell Biv DeVoe, Michael Urbaniak, Bernard Wright, Angie Stone, Kelis, Bilal, Wilson Pickett, Mavis Staples, Cool and the Gang, Groove Theory as well as many others.
