In a cold November in 1910, a group of Conservative Amish Mennonite ministers gathered in Michigan to help furtherthe mission of the church. Together in the Work of the Lord outlines how this group of Anabaptist ministers sought to live out their spiritual and theological heritage within their cultural context, discerning together how to be faithful to the Word and to their tradition while engaging with the world. This historical book reveals the struggles that accompanied Conservative Mennonites as they faced changing practices from plain dress and use of automobiles to sometimesdiffering definitions of nonconformity, authority, and submission. At the same time, it presents compelling accounts of people called to establish the church, locally and globally.
