Blendon Huston Riefkohl (B.H. or Rief) was born in Houston, Texas, on February 3, 1935, to Gustavo Riefkohl and Blendon Josephine Huston. He grew up on a nearby farm. He received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston in 1957 and a Master of Education from Sam Houston State College in 1967. Rief was a high school science and Biology teacher and high school administrator in the Houston area. He served as a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Coast Guard. In 1971, he married Donna Marie Bambrick. They now live in Bellville, Texas, and have two children: Matt and Roxy. Rief is an avid outdoorsman, a bull fighting aficionado, a jump alone skydiver, an African elephant hunter, and a black belt in karate. Providing assistance to those in need and learning about the emotional and spiritual mysteries of the mind remain some of his lifelong interests. He presents a unique writing style that is poetic, sensual, and searching.
