English as a Second Language teacher, Jane Frost, is pleased with the diversity of countries represented in her Fall, 2009 class: Kuwait, Indonesia, Tanzania, Korea, China, Japan and El Salvador. In her twenty-fourth year of teaching, she feels more than capable of guiding these international students to greater fluency. Mentoring a newly hired novice teacher should also be a piece of cake. Feeling complacent, Jane has no inkling of the cultural, ethical and linguistic troubles that are about to ensue, and the two unexpected mysteries she will have to solve.
