The tool condition monitoring becomes inevitable in modern unmanned machining to investigate the cutting tool state. An in-process tool condition monitoring system can keep the tool under surveillance, prevent the tool breakdown and reduce consequent elapsing machining time and cost. This work proposes an innovative monitoring technique comprising of acoustic emission (AE), cutting force and vibration sensing devices.
