The opposite of "inclusive society" is not "exclusive society", but "exclusive society". The problem is not that of the elimination from below of a certain number of people who will be qualified as excluded, but of the distinction and separation from above of people, social classes, social groups, and so on. it is this separation from above that tears the social fabric apart. In these conditions, the reference to the idea of "inclusive society" appears as a track of analysis, even of resistance to this separatism, in that the term "inclusive society" takes together equality and (radical) democracy to fight against exclusives; which presupposes a reflection on the universal, universality and secularism. This book is not a political program, a series of proposals to be implemented. It is meant to be, it is ambitious but necessary, a statement of prolegomena to any policy that seeks to be inclusive. If it is a political intervention, it is to intervene on the side of political speeches and actions not to reform them, which would be disproportionate, but to give oneself some tools in the hope of questioning their relevance, their coherence.
