Autorenporträt
STEPHEN G. LINDSEY has more than ten years of law enforcement experience working the violent and brutal streets of New Orleans as a police officer, task force officer, and narcotics detective. He has made thousands of arrests for individuals involved in murders, rape, shootings, drive- byes, turf wars, carjacking, armed robbery, drug dealing, weapons charges, bar room brawls, parking lot stabbings, domestic violence, and child abuse. He has chased fleeing criminals down dark alleys, conducted high speed vehicle pursuits, and been shot at, punched, kicked, threatened, and nearly run over on several occasions by a suspect fleeing the scene of a crime. But he brings something more to his knowledge and understanding of the problems of crime and violence. He also completed graduate studies in law, criminal justice, and psychology, and has spent the past twenty years studying childhood/adolescent psychological, emotional, and moral development and its link to mental illness and violent behavior. He has dealt with thousands of troubled juveniles and at-risk families. He knows the houses, neighborhoods, and families that breed violent criminals. He has witnessed first-hand the dysfunctional and violent lives of young people raised in these toxic families. This book is a culmination of his decades-long work, combining theory with practice, research with real-world experience. Rarely do we find someone of such high academic achievement with extensive firsthand experience working the streets and throwing violent criminals, gangbangers, and dope dealers in jail.
