This research involves the search for a successful vector for poison ivy. With a successful vector, genes could be added into the plant's genome and the plant controlled. This could be of help to farmers, communities and individuals. This paper focuses more specifically on making the plant produce luciferase for bioluminescence, but the applications can be more widespread. Toxicodendron radicans can be rather dangerous to many people, and this research may contribute to developing a solution in the future.
