Benzophenones (BPs) are one of the primary components in the UV filter family. They are extensively used as sunscreen agents in personal care products (PCPs) to protect skin and hair from UV irradiation. Due to the immense use of these products nowadays, the aquatic environment is highly enriched with BPs, especially BP-3. In the present study, we have evaluated the toxicity of BP-3 in Zebra fish using behavioural, biochemical, and histopathological indices in some selected tissues of Danio rerio in a sub-chronic model study. Our findings clearly stated that even the minimal exposure concentration of this substance induced several alterations in all tested indices, which denotes its toxicity impact on the exposed organism.
