The technological advances in trading, settlement and clearing have aided the NSE in gaining a foothold and later dominating the trading scenario in India. This present study provides a historical account of the changes that occurred across the value chain of a stock market in early 1990s. Indian stock markets have seen major developments in institutional infrastructure as well as policy changes during this period.

Dr Subba Reddy Yarram is a Senior Lecturer with the School of Business, Economics and Public Policy, University of New England, Australia. His main areas of research are corporate finance, market microstructure and financial services. He has previously taught in India and Malaysia.
