Traditions, Change and Applied Study in Music is a collective work of six essays on current researches at University of Malaya and Universiti Putra Malaysia. These essays comprise of an ethnographic study of music from Belarus as an organic product prior to impact from the globalised phenomenon; a glance through an in-depth transcription process of the Malay syair, a type of traditional Malay poetry that is presented in a song; an analytical study on the Chinese huangmei diao transformation as a Malaysian musical production; impacts of political and economical factors in jazz music; and an applied study looking at the effect of musical fit on consumer's preferences looking at two petrol brands.
