Asa, a trailblazer and change agent, is the co-founder and executive director of Coleman Preparatory Academy, an HBCU-inspired private school providing a new branch of educational excellence to Louisville, KY. She is a native of Norfolk, VA by way of Washington, D.C. where she graduated from Howard University with a bachelors in Legal Communications. Asa has a love for historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) and proudly boasts her alma mater. She is also a product of two HBCU grads, Norfolk State University (mother) & Tuskegee University (father). She is a mom of two, Terry & Talia, and credits her children for her drive and determination.She holds a masters in Educational Psychology, a certificate in Women's Entrepreneurship and is pursuing a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development. Much of her educational experience was served as a teacher, coordinator, and administrator. Her past positions include those in the classroom and out, but always focused on the achievement of students and dispelling myths believed of them. Her passion for education and Coleman Prep stems from her belief in the need for education equity as a means to close the "achievement gap".
