Daniel Temesgen Gelan tiene un doctorado en Extensión Agrícola y Economía, y cuenta con 25 años de experiencia en la enseñanza de la investigación, el desarrollo y el compromiso político. Fue miembro del cuerpo docente de las universidades de Hawassa y Ambo en Etiopía. Tiene un interés especial en la extensión agrícola y el desarrollo rural, los medios de vida y la seguridad alimentaria.
