Autorenporträt
Six weeks is the longest Carlita Kosty has ever been without a dog. Like her heroine Merle, Kosty became a widow when she was on the verge of retirement and had to reimagine the rest of her life. Her canine companion, the original Freddie, taught her to laugh again. A veteran teacher, a fierce defender of the public schools, and an ardent believer in the potential of all kids, Kosty taught most of her forty-four-year career in San Antonio. Now retired to the Texas Gulf Coast, she and her current doggie enjoy frequent gatherings of family and friends, traveling the world with her boyfriend, and working on Merle and Freddie's next adventure. A longtime proponent of civic involvement, she is a founding member of the local historical society and she serves as election judge for the precinct where she votes. "Training Freddie" is Kosty's first novel.
