This book is about a study made to assess community development training methods used by the government in women empowerment and food support programmes in Luano District of Zambia. The purpose of the study was to make an inquiry into community development methods used in the district. Trainers for community development and participants for women empowerment and food support programmes were used for this study. The study established that trainers in community development used lecture method and in some cases demonstrations, group discussions and workshops. The participation in community development was at lower level in activities such as selecting time and venues for meetings mainly for agriculture related programmes. The use of untrained facilitators and lack of support structure affected the process of community development in the district. The induction of facilitators in participatory methodologies was necessary for community development programmes to improve participation.
