Autorenporträt
François -Joseph Cazin est né en 1788 et mort en 1864. Chirurgien à l'école militaire, il se tournera aussi dans la marine comme médecin. Touché par la maladie du choléra, il retourne à la campagne. Tout en soignant ses malades, il s'intéressa à la botanique et fit des recherches pharmacologique et thérapeutique.
