The tramway (or streetcar) is a form of urban or interurban public transport running on tracks equipped with flat rails (whereas those of trains are slightly inclined towards the inside of the track) and which is set up on its own or embedded with grooved rails in the roadway. Today, it is generally electrically driven. The tramway, being cumbersome, is an unsuitable solution to the urban transport problem in Abidjan.The word "tramway" comes from the English tram-way composed of streetcar, flat rail and way meaning track.The city of Abidjan has problems with urban transport. Gbaka, woro woro, buses and cabs are the means commonly used.
