Pesticide contamination poses significant risks to the environment and non-target organisms ranging from beneficial soil microorganisms to insects, plants, fishes, and birds. The pregnant women, children, and old people are victims of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Health effects of pesticides range from mild allergies, rashes, breathing difficulties and reproductive abnormalities to deadly chronic diseases like cancer. Now it is an urgent need to look for organic agriculture. It is the only way for sustainable agriculture.

Dr. Sanjay Rode has completed PhD from Department of Economics, University of Mumbai in 2005. His area of research interest is Development Economics. He has worked on various national and international research projects related to different areas in Economics. He has written over forty-three research papers and nine books.
