Transforming Transportation: The Electric Car Revolution describes a proposal for a new nationwide all-electric mass transit system called NTS (National Transit Service). NTS uses private electric cars and trucks to provide door-to-door service across town or across the country. NTS will provide a low-cost travel service for freight, business, and personal travel. NTS is designed to provide the same convenient, anytime, travel advantage that owning a car has. It could eventually replace the interstate highway system. NTS will be built starting with very high traffic corridors on both the east and west coasts, with separate segments linking metro areas. James Beregi is a retired engineer from Bell Labs and IBM, working as an advisory systems engineer with extensive security, programming, computer-performance tuning, and analysis experience.he is a member or former member of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Innovative Transportation Technologies at WSU (ITT), Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP), Arizona Association of Environmental Professionals (AZAEP), American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), and a friend of National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, Transportation Research Board (TRB) committees.He created Solar Transportation Technologies, Inc., in 2008, which developed the Freedom Mass Transit concept, now called the National Transit Service (NTS), and patented the Critical Vehicle Control System (Patent No. 8,483,895, issued 7/9/2013.)
