The performance of the functions inherent to the role of family caregiver is full of challenges, obstacles and goals achieved, being an extremely exhausting process. Caring for a dependent person entails a set of mostly negative consequences, such as overload in different domains (physical, emotional and social), deterioration of the caregiver's physical and emotional health, and isolation, among others. Therefore, it is important to empower caregivers to better manage their needs and difficulties and, thus, provide care in a more effective and healthy way.Nurses, due to their proximity to the family, their caring for people and their unique technical, scientific and relational skills, are the privileged professional group for empowering caregivers through their instrumental and emotional empowerment in care provision. This study aims to bring together a set of nursing interventions, structured into an intervention program in the instrumental and psycho-emotional support domains, with the purpose of being a working, organized and facilitating instrument for nurses' interventions with family caregivers.
