Many examples from post authoritarian society demonstrate that dealing with transitional political circumstances is a recent area of human rights practice that creates some complex ethical, legal and practical problems. To address this issue, there have been many truth and reconciliation commissions established in transitional countries. This book will examine the problems of transitional justice in the human rights' universe using the example of the Commission of Truth and Friendship (CTF) of Indonesia and Timor-Leste.
