Reference textbooks and their translations in various academic courses are known as essential and beneficial scientific resources for students to develop and improve their knowledge. Although appropriate translations are helpful for students, improper ones may result in confusion and ambiguity among them. Here, with respect to the prominent role of translations and their quality in academic community, one of the reference textbooks in dentistry named "Clinical Periodontology" has been chosen to assess its translation quality. This book is the most comprehensive textbook and information resource about periodontology available and has been taught in many dentistry faculties worldwide. Among different approaches for translation quality assessment, House's revisited model (1997) has been applied in Persian translation of this book to assess its quality. The existence of overtly and covertly erroneous errors has also been examined. The result of this study will be helpful for the novice translators who have problem in translation of dentistry texts. The quality of a dentistry text can be recognized based on House's revisited model.
