Autorenporträt
Ashley Cornelius is the 6th Pikes Peak Region Poet Laureate based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ashley is the youngest and the first Black person to hold this title. Ashley is a multi-award-winning spoken word poet, keynote speaker, workshop facilitator, and community organizer. Ashley is a Licensed Professional Counselor and utilized poetry therapy interventions as her modality for healing. Ashley is the Co-Director of Poetry719, a Black-led grassroots poetry movement that was created out of the necessity for dedicated art spaces for marginalized communities and their artistic self-expression. Ashley is committed to using poetry as a platform to speak up and out for marginalized groups and be a voice for those who have been historically silenced.
