Translation and interpreter training has been on the negative side in many African countries including Zimbabwe. This status quo can not be allowed to continue because it is at the expense of social and economic development. The world is in dire need of communication across social, political and economic lines in order for globalization to fully materialize. However, such a scenario can only be possible if languages barriers are destroyed and the only way to destroy them is through a well organized and efficient translation and interpreting policy. it is in that regard that professional training of translation and interpretation personnel becomes mandatory. This research work is inspired by the realization that not much has been done in most countries to make sure that they move with the fast changing times and intends to influence a positive change of attitude from all stakeholders to take the business of translation and interpreting seriously.
