Injury to primary dentition may cause structural defects on the succedaneous teeth or affect its position. Initial reassurance to both parent and child is of great value, as trauma may affect the self esteem and quality of life of the patient. In addition, anticipatory guidance and education are necessary to advise parent regarding the advantages of early treatment of traumatized teeth.Parents should be informed about the possibility of trauma to permanent tooth buds and defective permanent tooth development.. Because of these types of injuries the child's facial appearance may become so altered as to make an attractive child look unattractive. This may result in the child being made the target for teasing and ridicule by other children. This adds to the social trauma of the child who is already suffering from the pain and discomfort as a result of traumatic injury.
