Dr. Dea Coschignano has worked as a licensed psychologist in Colorado and Hawaii. She earned her Ph.D. in Psychology in 2000 and has specialized in treating trauma -- all kinds of trauma, from soldiers who were deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan to those injured in car accidents, as well as victims of sexual abuse and assault. She uses EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) a very effective trauma treatment as well as teaching coping skills such as DBT and Meditation. She is aware of the current research in the field including Neuropsychological research on the benefits of meditation for the brain. Her book provides the basics in trauma treatment for providers and patients as well. She worked in Fort Carson with active duty Army soldiers for 3 years and in the outer islands of Hawaii for 6 years doing social security disability assessments.
