Ulhasnagar is a town located in Thane district, Konkan division of Maharashtra state. The place was earlier known as Sindhunagar. This was originally built by the British Government as transit military camp during 2nd world war. This place was deserted after the war. In August 1947, India got the independence and along came the partition of the nation. A colony of migrants in the aftermath of Partition was relocated here in the vacant military camp situated 58 km from Mumbai.
