Clara Obligado nació en Buenos Aires. Exiliada política de la dictadura militar, desde 1976 vive en España. Es licenciada en Literatura, y ha dirigido los primeros talleres de Escritura Creativa que se organizaron en este país, actividad que ha llevado a cabo para numerosas universidades y diversas instituciones y que realiza de forma independiente. En 1996 recibió el premio Femenino Lumen por su novela La hija de Marx y en 2015 el premio de novela breve Juan March Cencillo por Petrarca para viajeros. Ha publicado con Páginas de Espuma las antologías Por favor, sea breve 1 y 2, señeras en la implantación del microrrelato en España, y los volúmenes de cuentos Las otras vidas, El libro de los viajes equivocados (que mereció el ix Premio Setenil al mejor libro de cuentos de 2012), La muerte juega a los dados y La biblioteca de agua. Tiene numerosos libros de ensayo, entre otros, Una casa lejos de casa. La escritura extranjera y, el más reciente, Todo lo que crece. Naturaleza y escritura, publicado en esta misma editorial. Es colaboradora en medios periodísticos y su obra ha sido traducida a diferentes idiomas.
