I wrote this book to inspire my daughter to try triathlons as she grows up, I also want to encourage young girls who don't usually see athletes like me in books. After I started racing, I came across amazing triathletes like Sika Henry and Max Fennell and ultramarathon runner Mirna Valerio who are redefining the world of distance sports and what athletes usually look like. I hope reading this book will help motivate companies to sponsor programs to help underprivileged kids get access to pools, equipment and racing. My goal is to inspire others (including my daughter Mattis) to come to love the sport as much as I do.

Jerlyn Thomas is a product designer who creates rich, attention-grabbing digital experiences that amplify human purpose. By concentrating on inclusivity and design accessibility, her passion bridges the gap between technology and art to communicate directly with diverse demographics. She's a digital consultant, a mentor for numerous STEM groups, a speaker, and a published illustrator. Jerlyn has also done illustrations for Vice.com, ESPN in various anthologies and children's books. In 2020 her work was posted on Hillary Clinton's Instagram account by the actress, writer, producer, entrepreneur, and activist Erika Alexander.
