Simon Makumbe was born on 8 September 1972 in Nhamo village of Chief Mukanganwi area of Bikita district, in Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe. He did his primary and secondary education up to O-Level in Bikita. after completing A-Levels at Gutu High School, he enrolled for Bsc Honours degree in Politics and Administration at the University of Zimbabwe.
