Native isolates of Trichoderma spp. viz., TFC-1, TFC-2, TVS-1, TVS-2, THCh-1 and TACh-1 were first time isolated, identified and reported. T. fasciculatum and T. atroviride were found newly discovered in Gujarat, India. All isolates found moderately similar in characterization. T. harzianum (THCh-1) found most efficient as it showed strong antagonism. Rose bengal medium, Trichoderma selective medium, Richards' medium, Sorghum grain, well decomposed FYM and wheat bran found superior substrate as it gave maximum population of T. harzianum (THCh-1). For the preparation of formulation of T. harzianum, talc supported higher population and maximum longevity. T. harzianum applied with seed cum soil application (10 g/kg + 100 g/kg-1) to the chickpea resulted in higher germination per cent with lowest wilt incidence in pot condition. In field experiment seed cum soil application (5 g/kg + 100 g/m2) with T. harzianum (THCh-1) to the chickpea resulted lowest wilt incidence and maximum yield. Fungicides compatibility testing revealed the, thiram and thiophanate methyl were found safer to the T. harzianum.
