A native of Norway, Oddvar K. Hoidal has written extensively on World War II, the Holocaust in Scandinavia, and Norwegian politics in the 1920s and 1930s. He is the author of Quisling, a major biography of Vidkun Quisling, whose name became synonymous with traitor due to his collaboration with Hitler during World War II. Hoidal is Professor of History, Emeritus, at San Diego State University, where he taught courses in Scandinavian and Modern European History over a span of forty-one years.
