Don Rittner is a historian, environmentalist, archeologist, and author who specializes in the history of the Capital District of New York State. He has received numerous awards, including the National DAR Award for Historic Preservation (2006), Executive Award for Environmental Impact New York State Outdoor Education Association (1985), and Nature Conservancy Oak Leaf Award (1977).
