Wagtown is a charitable organization that helps communities become more dog friendly. Since launching Wagtown in 2016, the author has interviewed more than 600 community leaders, elected officials, animal welfare advocates, grassroots groups, and others. She learned from the successes and failures in what Miller refers to as the "Dogification of America." Throughout her research across the United States, it became obvious to Miller that she needed to speak to children about dogs and their effect on our lives. The book is about empathy and humane treatment of animals as seen through the eyes of an abandoned young pitbull dog. The book addresses topics like self-worth, discrimination, safety, emotions, and bullying. The story also focuses on some key messages about hope, resilience, and love.
