His forte is the ability to train claim adjusters on earthquake policy coverage and claim handling in a humorous and memorable way. For 14 years prior to 2015, he was the Claim Manager for the California Earthquake Authority (CEA), the largest residential earthquake insurance company in the USA. In that capacity, he oversaw the earthquake claim handling of 21 insurance companies that were responsible to take and process CEA earthquake claims. He was previously a claim manager with CIGNA insurance company where he supervised commercial and residential property claims in seven Western states. Dan served as a Consultant to the Applied Technology Council, and was a member of the Project Technical Committee for the update of the CUREE Guidelines for the assessment and repair of earthquake damage in residential woodframe buildings. He served on the governing board for The California Residential Mitigation Program (CRMP). CRMP was established to assist California homeowners who wish to seismically retrofit their houses with grants and incentives.
