Ziya Önis is Professor of International Political Economy and Director of the Graduate School of Social Sciences and Humanities at Koç University in Istanbul, Turkey. He has been a Visiting Fulbright Fellow at Princeton University and has participated in World Bank and OECD Development Center projects, as well as being the Associate Editor of the Journal of International Trade and Diplomacy. Fikret Senses is Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. He was a visiting scholar at Harvard University, Visiting Fulbright Scholar at Columbia University, and editor of METU Studies in Development. His main research interests are trade and industrialization, labour markets, poverty, and development issues with special reference to the Turkish economy.
