This is a study on the relationship between turnaround strategies and the performance of state owned institutions. Four specific objectives have formed the study and these are: to assess the relationship between cost reduction strategy, diversification strategy, re-organization strategy and modernization strategy respectively on the performance of state owned Kenya Meat Commission. The theories that will guide the study are the contingency theory of structural adoption to regain fit theory, the generic strategy theory and the life cycle theory. The context of the study will be the Kenya Meat Commission since it is undergoing a turnaround process. The researcher will conduct in-depth interviews with Kenya Meat Commission Heads of Departments since they are involved in the turnaround process. Information will also be obtained from the commission's records, since they are useful in the compilation of the study report. The target population will compose of 33 Heads in the two levels of management currently employed at Kenya Meat Commission.
